Our visits are extensive, intimate and empowering. If required, we can order additional diagnostic tests to help gather more precise health information.

During the visit we will evaluate the different options you have to help move your body toward a more balanced state. We will address your immediate health concerns first, while creating a long-term health plan for the future.

Most insurance companies cover Naturopathic Doctor visits. Check your policy to confirm.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I SEE A NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR:

A Naturopathic Doctor is Medically Trained with a Natural Focus on care.

Each practitioner will have their own unique style and methods of diagnosis and treatment, however, usually the first visit with a Naturopathic Doctor will include an in-depth health history assessment, as well as a full or complaint-oriented physical exam. Once enough information has been collected, a treatment plan will be presented to the patient and discussed. The doctor and patient will then decide on a treatment regime that feels right for the patient and that will help them reach their full health potential.

WHAT IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE?

Naturopathic Medicine is the art and science of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease based on natural therapies and techniques. It is a distinct system of primary care that addresses the root cause of illness and disease. The foundation of Naturopathic Medicine is built upon the belief that the body has the natural ability to heal itself. Naturopathic methods are used to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms. Naturopathic Medicine can be used in conjunction with, and complementary to, mainstream medical treatments.

Whether you are just not feeling as good as you should, or you have been diagnosed with a specific disease or condition, Naturopathic Medicine can help you find your way back to optimal health. Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) help you to be the best at whatever it is you do, be it a parent, professional, laborer, or enjoying a well-deserved retirement.

Naturopathic Doctors treat a wide range of conditions  including depression, cancer, arthritis, food intolerance, skin problems, chronic fatigue and pain, and much more. Many common conditions can be reduced or even eliminated by a simple change in diet. Whatever the condition, NDs have a variety of treatment methods to help you feel better.

In Canada, the naturopathic medical profession’s infrastructure includes accredited educational institutions, professional licensing and continuing education, national standards of practice, participation in many federal health committee initiatives, and a commitment to state-of-the-art scientific research.

WHAT WE TREAT:

As Doctors of Naturopathic Medicine we seek information on how to either maintain a patient’s good health or to treat various diseases or illnesses. Naturopathic Doctors treat the individual, not just the disease. This means that patients diagnosed with a similar illness could be prescribed different protocols depending on how their body presents the illness. In addition, by working with people who are healthy, ND’s can help to prevent potential illnesses.

ND’S CAN WORK WITH MANY SYNDROMES AND/OR CONCERNS INCLUDING:

ADD/ADHD, Allergies, Arthritis, Autism, Autoimmune disorders, Baby colic, Cancer, Chronic fatigue, Chronic pain, Colitis/IBS Syndrome, Detoxification, Diabetes, Digestive issues, Food intolerance, Heart disease, Infertility, Menopause, Pediatric concerns, PMS, Prevention, Prostate care, Recurrent infection, Thyroid care, Upper respiratory illness,  Yeast.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTS OFFERED:

Naturopathic Doctors (ND) understand that many factors can interfere with maintaining a healthy mind, body, and spirit. In addition to a thorough holistic examination, ND’s can utilize a variety of diagnostic tests. These tests can be completed in the office and include:

  • Hair analysis

  • Food Intolerance blood testing

  • Stool and urine analysis

WHAT IS REIKI?

  • This is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

  • Dr. Mercer uses her education of over 16 years of clinical experience and knowledge to apply this gentle yet powerful healing art. She considers the use of Reiki to be a valuable addition to personal health on its own or in combination with other Naturopathic Methods.

Reiki and Cranio-Sacral Therapy are often used as an adjunct to other Naturopathic Therapies and is covered under Naturopathic Medical Coverage.
