REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPISTS

LAUREN FUREY, RMT

Lauren graduated from Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in 2010. She has worked as a Registered Massage Therapist in New Brunswick with the CMTNB and Ontario with the CMTO until deciding to move home to Newfoundland in 2020. She has worked with a wide range of clientele over the years and in varied atmospheres including chiropractic clinic and medical spa.

Lauren’s treatments typically consist of deep tissue massage with cupping therapy but she is versatile to the needs of the individual client. Most people can benefit from Registered Massage Therapy. It can help to reduce everyday stress, aches/pains, as well as it can increase range of motion, improve blood flow and maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit. When Lauren isn’t working she spends her free time at a yoga studio, working out, travelling, spending time with friends and walking her dog. Massage Therapy has always been a passion for Lauren since the beginning of her career. She has taken many courses over the years and will continue with furthering her career education.

ROBIN BRAKE, RMT

Robin is extremely excited to bring her skills and abilities into her new career as a Registered Massage Therapist.  She graduated with honors from the Massage Therapy program at Eastern Academy in St. John’s, NL in July 2021. Robin has always had a deep passion for health and wellness, as well as a strong compassion for others. She spends much of her time learning new techniques and treatment methods to better understand how the various parts of the body are connected, and how to be the most effective with helping her clients achieve relief.

During her program she acquired knowledge and experience in General Swedish Massage, myofascial release, fascial techniques, and trigger point therapy. She continues to grow both personally and professionally through continuous study and occupational related activities. Besides Robin’s passion for Massage Therapy, she is also a lover of nature, an outdoor adventurer, and a water enthusiast. She is delighted to be a part of the team at Winterholme, for the opportunity to work alongside other dedicated health and wellness specialists, who also apply themselves every day towards the well-being of others.

In 2020 she decided to pack up and drive across the country with her dog, to be close to family again in St. John’s, NL.

Katherine’s experience involves treating acute and chronic conditions including stress and anxiety, headaches, TMJ/jaw pain, neck and back pain, sport injuries, arthritis and more. She loves the spa environment that brings deep relaxation alongside effective therapeutic treatment. He looks forward to working with a wide range of clientele and prides himself on his inclusivity to the LGBTQ+ community, bodies of all shapes and sizes, and people from different backgrounds. In the near future, he plans on expanding his practice and continuing education into cupping, gua-sha, and sports massage.

MANUAL OSTEOPATHIC THERAPIST

LEANNE REARDON, MOT, MT

LeAnne is a Manual Osteopathic Therapist who graduated with honours from the Manual Osteopathic College of Canada, In Edmonton Alberta, in 2020. She moved from St. John’s to Alberta in 2015 to pursue her education. LeAnne has always been very passionate about holistic health and wellness and has always had a tremendous compassion towards others; it brings her great pleasure to be able help others achieve whole body wellness and attain optimal, pain free quality of life.

She understands that every client coming into the office is unique, each and every body tells a different story. Years of experience in massage therapy has taught her that each individual body is like a puzzle. The body shows symptoms, however, the source of the problems might be far from where the symptoms are present. This is possible as all systems in our body are interconnected and interdependent through our fascial network. This complexity led her to take the training for Manual Osteopathy, which assesses and treats the body as whole, three dimensional structure.

Her therapeutic interest lies in TMJ dysfunction, the neck and its connection with your pelvis, upregulated nervous system (such as migraines), headaches, and myofascial pain.  Furthermore, the ‘gut-brain’ (our second brain) relationship and its influence on the musculoskeletal system. She emphasizes on organ-specific fascial mobilization (Visceral Manipulation) not only to increase mobility and motility of organs, but also to decrease the symptoms in muscles and joints. LeAnne’s treatment goal with each client is to find the root cause of pain and injury and work to restore things back to optimal function.

ACUPUNCTURIST

HEATHER BARNES, BBA, D.Ac, R.Ac

Heather is a Registered Acupuncturist within Newfoundland and Labrador, as a member in good standing with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP), College of Traditional Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Newfoundland and Labrador (CTCMPNAL), and The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMAANL). Currently a part of the Winterhome Wellness team, her practice is dedicated not only to helping clients, but also encouraging an individual’s dedication and responsibility for their health.

Through the study and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Heather has gained clinical experience in various areas. This includes a variety of musculoskeletal, digestive, gynecological, and mental/emotional issues, as well as cancer (terminal, post-surgical, and remissive).  Having history as both an athlete and a coach, she takes interest in acupuncture’s role in mental preparation, promoting healing, and preventing injuries.

Heather is a graduate from the Acupuncture Diploma program at Eastern College (Traditional Chinese Medicine). This program offered an intensive 3 years of theory and hands on learning. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Memorial University (Major: Business Administration, Minor: English).

REFLEXOLOGY and REIKI

SUE BAILEY

Sue is a registered reflexologist with the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC).

RAC defines reflexology as the study of reflexes: “Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from this study based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that map to other parts, glands and organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on those reflexes, reflexology therapy can help relieve tension, enhance circulation and help the body function optimally.”

Sue first started studying this ancient therapy because she found its full-body relaxation effects to be so powerful. She has been certified since 2014 for foot and hand reflexology, and has worked with clients in St. John’s, Halifax and Ottawa. Each session begins with a soothing foot bath to melt away stress. Sue is also certified for Indian Head Massage, another natural therapy that can ease the tension of “text neck” on its own or in combination with reflexology.
